Dr Chris Garland grew up in Far North Queensland and graduated in medicine from James Cook University in 2010. He became a Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine in 2018, with advanced specialised training in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

Chris has worked in Mackay, Mareeba, Yarrabah and Cairns, including roles in Indigenous health.

Chris enjoys all aspects of general practice and getting to know patients and their families. His interests include chronic disease care, especially diabetes, kidney and heart health, as well as mental health, preventive care and LGBTQI+ healthcare.

He also offers Implanon insertion and removal.

Outside work, Chris enjoys exploring Far North Queensland with his wife and two young children. He is also an enthusiastic runner.

His local roots and rural medical experience inform his interest in accessible, inclusive care for the community.
